Scotty Lago and Tim Humphreys hit up Snowboarder Magazine Superpark 08
Tuesday, 13 May 2008

May 6-10, 2008 Mammoth Mountain, CA – This past week under sunny skies and spring conditions on the backside of Mammoth Mountain, Snowboarder Magazine hosted one of the sickest, most exclusive annual Superpark events. The non-public, invitation only event had security at every angle making it virtually impossible to get a sneak preview of what the big guns in snowboarding can do when given the opportunity to hit custom made kickers and features built by the very best park builder’s in the biz. The scene was laid out like a photographer’s dream “Hollywood set” attracting more than a 100 core rider’s including Flow’s Scotty Lago and Timmy Humphreys.

FLOW Amateurs Strike Gold
Thursday, 01 May 2008

SAN CLEMENTE, CA – April 19 2008 - The Flow Team continues to up the ante on their list of ace riders with a bumper crop of new talent. Flow amateur’s Petja Piiroinen and Sarka Pancochova struck gold at the 2008 World Junior Championships in Italy winning the big air titles for both the men and women. Petja is quickly taking after his famous brother Peetu who most recently took home the overall Burton Global Series title this season. Sarka who hails from Czech is quietly throwing down backside 720’s for the ladies and is one of the promising up and coming females on the circuit. Flow is “stoked to have not just one, but TWO World Jr. Champs on its team of talented riders”.

fl_tahoe_jrworld_champs.jpg

The accomplishments of Petja and Sarka add to an already incredible season of Flow Team exposure. This pack of A-list riders are killin’ it in magazine cover shots, web coverage, contest circuits and film parts. To name just a few, Antti Autti landed the cover of TransWorld Snowboarding Magazine along with a full-length interview while fellow Finn, Risto Mattila took 3rd overall in the TTR rankings for this season. Also, both Antti and Risto have been filming with the Northern Scrapbook crew. Teammate Scotty Lago has been keeping busy all year filming with 3 major crews including Grenade, Travis Rice’s project and Absinthe films. Scotty also found time for two exclusive interviews, one in TransWorld and the other in Snowboarder Magazine. Flow’s newest pro rider, Tim Humphreys has a long list of success under his belt from this season and just may be Rookie of the Year! The 08/09 Flow pro team’s roster includes Antti Autti, Scotty Lago, Risto Mattila, Timmy Humphreys, Clair Bidez and Mercedes Nicoll. Petja and Sarka join Flow amateurs Jeremy Thompson, Christophe Reynders, Jed Hoffman, Scot Brown, Izumi Amaike, Jake Black, Nial Romanek and Shane Fortier.

While many snowboarding companies have spent a lifetime trying to fit-in, FLOW has spent its time standing out. Born from originality, FLOW is defiant against the norm of tradition. The world has witnessed how this one time “binding” company has progressed into the leader of innovative products featuring a complete line of “speed entry” bindings, performance proven boots and award winning snowboards. The future is here and the future is FLOW.

Lago Returns to the World Quarters 2008 to Defend His Title
Wednesday, 26 March 2008

MONDAY MARCH 24, 2008 WINDHAM, VERMONT - Snowmobiles, mayhem, booze, fireballs, and the infamous Gauntlet: The World Quarter Pipe Championships have returned with a vengeance. With a little help from the Rome SDS, Red Bull, and Snowboarder Magazine, Chris Waker and the Timber Ridge crew pulled off one of the most wicked snowboard events to ever go down in the Stratton area of Vermont. Timber Ridge, a privately owned abandoned ski area became the scene for quite possibly the biggest privately built quarter pipe in Vermont and a riotous answer to the mundane contest circuit of late.

No lame sponsors, no TV timeouts, there wasn’t even really any judging and there certainly wasn’t any pre-planned “poaching”. Poach this quarter pipe and you were seriously taking your life into your hands. Defending Quarterpipe champion Scotty Lago arrived on the scene and blasted some of the biggest airs of the day, and appeared to be the early favorite, but after a misfortunate fight with the flat bottom, Scotty was helped to the side and suddenly it was anyone’s game.

The final standings were announced and the junior ripper award went to Gabe McGovern, a young gun (TEAM MICRON) who had braved the Blue Hills event back in the day when he was a six-year old grom. For Gabe’s airs he was awarded a new guitar. Second place and a “quarter” of the Green Mountains’ finest export went to Arctic Challenge second place finisher Shayne Pospisil for his smooth airs and spins all day. Rounding out the podium was Greg Bokenkamp taking Third. The title of new World Quarter Pipe Champion, 1,000 dollar in quarters, and a brand new 50cc motorcycle went to Utah shredder Bode Merrill who ended the riding portion of the event with a frontside invert on the log extension while it was lit on fire….

After years of hard work, Scotty Lago has received the publicity that every snowboarder dreams of. We would like to congratulate Scotty on his exclusive 14 page interview published in the world’s #1 snowboard magazine, Transworld Snowboarding December ‘07 issue. Flow Team Drops in on NZ
Friday, 09 November 2007
antti_nz07.jpg
Antti Autti ready for an epic shred session in NZ
You never want to be put in a position where you could set yourself up for failure, but this is the exact position the FLOW Team found themselves in during early September of 2007. To identify the situation a bit, it’s kind of like putting 1,000 dollars down on RED at the Roulette table. With all hopes of doubling up, you might fall flat on your face with 1,000 less to account for your attempts. Maybe it could be compared to a Military mission. For example, going into battle with not enough ammo and men. Or a million hand grenades with no long-range firepower. Whichever you choose, the FLOW Team was in for a real “Do or Die” situation.

Antti and Risto hit the WC in Rotterdam
Tuesday, 30 October 2007

The World Cup Big Air 2007 in Rotterdam proved to be another amazing event with over 20,000 eyes watching 47 rider’s bust out on 1 million liters of snow at the base of the Erasmus Bridge. But for the 2005 winner, Flow Team rider Risto Mattila, it proved to be another unlucky judging session. Basically he was robbed, for the second time this year. Nothing can be done about that now and he still was able to hold his own in the top 10 by placing 9th. Fellow Finn and Flow Teammate Antti Autti stomped 3rd place after an exciting head to head finale against Austrian Stefan Gimpl in 2nd and Peetu Piiroinen taking 1st. Christopher Reynders, Flow AM rider was also in the house staking his claim as 13th.

But enough talk on the results. The main attraction from the event could be found AFTER the finals at the Flow booth for an exclusive signature session with 4 of the competing Flow riders: Antti Autti, Risto Mattila, Christophe Reynders and Joy Geenen giving out tons of Flow swag littered with their autograph’s. Antti’s week pee at the doping test caused him to arrive late, but the fans didn’t seem to mind too much. Probably because Flow was the ONLY booth with a meet and greet letting the public connect with their snowboard heavyweight face to face. High fives for a job well done to all who made this event possible and the rider’s who threw down.

Risto and Antti get judged at the Freestyle CH
Monday, 01 October 2007
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 23, 2007  ZURICH, SWITZERLAND Arguably the second largest snowboard contest in Europe, the 2007 Freestyle CH proved to be an incredible event. Over 100,000 spectators crammed into the Zurich Fairgrounds for a busy three-day action sports festival. Antti Autti and Risto Mattila put on a fantastic snowboard display finishing 5th and 7th in the final standings. This finish was somewhat disappointing after some very suspect judging. Antti was 1st and Risto was 5th after Saturday’s semi-finals.  The finals on Sunday brought some crazy scoring mistakes for Risto that left him out of the Super Final (top three) and left us all wondering how Antti’s cab 900 was beaten by a cab 720? I guess that’s why they call it a JUDGED event. Anyway congrats to the Super Finalists!

FYI Risto was told after the Super Final of the judging mistake and that he will receive Super Final prize money and a promise of an invite for next year.

Either way the event was awesome and Flow was fully in-the-house with a booth that premiered the new Flow Team Video, had Antti and Risto signing hundreds of posters and gave out more stickers, tee shirts and beers that was possible.

Great thanks to Flow CH; Charles, Renee, Adam, Stefan and Jack for making a strong showing at the Flow booth. Also much thanks to Olivia (from Freestyle CH) Onboard, Pleasure, MBM, The Box and 7th Sky for making this event one of the best contests in the world!
